Wisconsin's Drug Control Program

History

In 1989, the U.S. Congress authorized the National Guard to perform drug interdiction and anti-drug activities under Title 32 of the United States Code, section 112.  The Wisconsin National Guard Drug Control Program represents one of 54 Counterdrug programs operated in the United States and territories.  Wisconsin’s program has been supporting law enforcement and community based organizations since 1989 in an effort to reduce the supply and demand for illegal drugs.

The increased emphasis towards keeping the homeland safe in the face of threats posed by substance abuse and narco-terrorism continue to challenge us all. Our capability to assist in providing realistic training environments provides officers with the ability to train and prepare for future encounters.  This training is only enhanced with the construction of our High Risk Entry Facility (HREF) which contains state-of-the-art technology through smoke, sounds, and other special effects.

Also, at Volk Field is a branch of the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center (NCTC) started in 2001.  Their mission is to provide law enforcement and education and prevention specialists with a no-cost training center.  NCTC will provide the instruction, lodging and meals at no-cost to you or your department for those courses at Volk Field.  We also offer out-of-state exportable courses throughout the year.  Visit our website at www.counterdrug.org to register for classes.
